WWF CAMEROON IS LOOKING FOR A SERVICE PROVIDER
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Cameroon is looking for a service provider to estimate the current yields of cocoa farms in Mintom, under the CANOPE project.
WWF is an independent conservation organization, striving to sustain the natural world for the benefit of people and wildlife.
CONTEXT AND JUSTIFICATION
Cocoa production is an important source of income for smallholder farmers and their households in Mintom, South Region of Cameroon. However, limited reliable farm-level information is currently available on the actual productivity of cocoa farms belonging to members of the cooperatives supported by the project.
This information will help target technical and agroforestry support, identify priority areas for improving productivity, adopt sustainable practices (including those relevant to the Rainforest Alliance Sustainable Agriculture Standard) and measure changes in productivity over time.
OBJECTIVES
The main objective is to estimate the current yields of cocoa farms in Mintom. The expert will:
- Establish the current productivity of cocoa farms of supported cooperative members: average yield per hectare, production levels and variation between farms;
- Assess the main agronomic, farm management and agroforestry factors influencing cocoa productivity;
- Identify key productivity gaps, constraints and opportunities, and priority areas for technical and agroforestry support.
MINIMUM METHODOLOGY
- Preparatory phase: review of documents and data (cooperative membership databases, farmer and farm registers, previous assessments, production and sales records), sampling strategy and data collection tools.
- Sampling and field data collection: statistically sound sampling, direct field observations and measurements where possible, documentation of practices, clear distinction between reported and measured or modelled yields.
- Data processing and analysis: data verification and cleaning, calculation of yields and their variation, analysis of links between productivity and practices.
- Validation and reporting: presentation of preliminary findings to the cooperatives, then submission of the final report, dataset and analytical files to WWF Cameroon.
START DATE AND DURATION
Activities are scheduled to start on 1 December 2026, and the consultancy will last ten (10) days.
CONSULTANT PROFILE
- At least a Master's degree in agronomy, agricultural economics, crop science, agroforestry, statistics or a related field;

- Experience in sampling design and farm-level quantitative data collection and analysis;
